EV Charging Stations in Portland

• A load calculation before the quote – We check your panel's capacity before we price the job, because a charger running alongside a dryer and an oven can push an older panel to its limit.
• Chargers sized for your car – We match the amperage to your vehicle's onboard charger, so you do not pay for speed your car cannot use.
• Licensed and bonded – We hold Oregon CCB #48131 with full bonding and insurance.
• PGE Approved Contractor – PGE approves our work, which helps when your charger project needs the electrical side coordinated with the utility.
• Permits and inspection handled – We pull the permit and meet the inspector, so your charger is on record and ready when you sell the house.
• Clear pricing and financing – You see the full price in writing before work begins, and financing helps spread out larger projects.

In our service history across Portland area neighborhoods, assessing total panel capacity before mounting a high-draw charger prevents unexpected breaker trips. Our team takes time to test your voltage output and leaves your charger operating smoothly so your daily commute can glow with reliable power.

Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging Explained

If you have bought an EV recently, the vocabulary can feel like a foreign language. Charging comes down to one idea: the more power you feed the car, the faster the battery fills. The U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center breaks down the levels, and here is the short version for your garage.

Here are the charging options, and where each one fits:

• Level 1 charging – This is the cord that came with your car, plugged into a standard 120-volt outlet, and it adds 3 to 5 miles of range per hour. That works for a short commute or for a plug-in hybrid, but it feels slow to most drivers.
• Level 2 charging – A 240-volt circuit with a wall-mounted charger adds 20 to 40 miles of range per hour, which means a full battery by morning. It is the standard choice for home charging.
• DC fast charging – These public stations add hundreds of miles in under an hour, and they are built for road trips. They cost more per kilowatt-hour than charging at home.
• Plug-in charger on a 240-volt outlet – A charger that plugs into a NEMA 14-50 outlet is simple and portable, and it suits drivers who may move or want a lower first cost.
• Hardwired charger – A hardwired unit connects to a dedicated circuit, supports higher amperage, and gives you a cleaner, weather-ready install on a garage wall or exterior wall.

Level 2 is the right fit for most home garages, and we will help you decide between a plug-in and a hardwired setup. Sun Glow can install either style, and we tell you which one makes sense once we see your panel and where you park. An honest recommendation before the install is to make sure you end up with a charger that works every morning.

When Your EV Charger Stops Working

A home charger should be something you stop thinking about. Sometimes a connection drops or a cable wears out, and your morning plan falls apart. Whether we installed the charger or someone else did, we can find the problem and get it charging at full speed.

Here are the charger problems we repair:

• Network connectivity issues
• Broken plugs
• Unresponsive screens
• Cable issues
• Slow or incomplete charging

Sun Glow has the tools and training to diagnose these problems and get your charger operating at full capacity. Our Maintenance Membership Program adds priority service and repair discounts for your electrical equipment, so a charger problem goes to the front of the line.
